Johannes is one of Denmark's leading litigators and heads Bech-Bruun's dispute resolution and maritime and transport law departments.

Johannes is known for his solution-orientated approach and profound understanding of the client's needs, and he is also an experienced litigator with a right of audience before the Danish Supreme Court.

Johannes advises both national and international clients. Johannes is particularly experienced in international arbitration, disputes regarding the general law of damages and commercial law, D&O liability cases, post-M&A disputes and insolvency law disputes as well as all areas of maritime and transport law. Johannes has also conducted a large number of cases relating to attachment, injunctions and orders in the area of maritime law as well as civil proceedings.

With his many years of experience as a maritime law specialist, Johannes is also, nationally as well as internationally, considered one of the leading Danish shipping lawyers. Johannes is part of Bech-Bruun's Cross-Border Insolvency Shipping Team and is particularly experienced in US Chapter 11 and 15 rules. Furthermore, as Denmark's first practising maritime lawyer, he holds an MBA in Shipping & Logistics from CBS.

Johannes is chairman of Bech-Bruun's International Business Committee, and with his strong international focus, Johannes is currently involved in multiple international organisations. Johannes has received much international recognition. He is, for example, Immediate Past Chair of the Maritime & Transport Law Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA) and Denmark's only executive member of Comité Maritime International (CMI).

Johannes has been involved in the legal consequences of virtually every major relevant shipping case. Johannes was, among other things, involved in the aftermath of the collapse of OW Bunker, the grounding of EVERGIVEN in the Suez Canal and the largest Danish maritime bankruptcies, including The Containership Company, Copenship and Thorco Shipping.
